THE GOOD

I am sure you are by know wondering why I picked this drive to review over all the other CD-ROMs out there. Is it better than all the others? NO but it is just as good. Is it the great Specs? NO but the specs are just as good as most of the other drives. Is it reliability? NO but I haven't seen it break down yet. Is it the great tech support? NO in fact their is no tech support. Is it the fancy colored box it comes in? You must be kidding me! Then what made me review this basic cd-rom?

The BAD

Their is only one thing about this drive that is a common problem with most hi-speed drives, NOISE ! When this drive spins up run for cover since it sounds like your computer is going to fly off your desk and you don't want to be in the middle of rotor wash. But what Hi-speed drive is whisper quiet? not many I think. I do have to say at the lower speeds you wont hear a thing but the great sound of your music from your speakers. However at high speed when you are trying to shoot down that last star ship it can be annoying.

THE PRICE!!!

What do you use a CD-rom for? If you are like me you install software, play music, burn a disk or two even run a program from CD on rare occasion. Well the Afreey 50 X cd-rom is for you. The music playback quality is superb with hardly a skip to be heard even if you bump your computer tower. It will load a program flawlessly and at 50X it wont take forever. So how much does this drive cost? look around the net and you can find this drive for $33.00 or less. THAT'S RIGHT I SAID $33.00. I had occasion to go to one of the big computer chain stores (Compxxx) a few months back and bought a CD ROM drive. The brand name on it was HI-VAL it seemed ok and the price was $55.00 (it has since been reduced in price to $49.00). I have heard good things about HI-VAL and it was the cheapest one since it was the house brand. When I got home and opened the box the label on the bottom of the drive read "Afreey 50X cd-rom". The exact cd-rom you can get in the Afreey box for twenty dollars less.

MY OPINION

What do you use a CD-rom for? If you are like me you install software, play music, burn a disk or two even run a program from CD on rare occasion. Then I say don't spend more then you need to, get an Afreey and put twenty dollars back in the bank.
